In November 2019. Mira Reiss organised an exhibition by the Polish group PAAC - 'Hybrid Identity' - at the l'Entrepot Lachine cultural centre in Montreal.

The artist creates oils on canvas and likes to mix techniques using watercolour or drawing in her paintings. Mira Reiss's paintings are narrative, colourful and tell grotesque stories on the borderline between dream and reality. The protagonists of her paintings are characters from the circus, children's games, dreams and fantasies. The artist uses deformation, playing at creating surreal worlds, more interesting than reality. She draws on her childhood, on her experiences, on her reflections on life and on literature. Related to her is the work of Marc Chagall, Balthus, Kees van Dongen. Illustrativity enriches this painting, makes it interesting and mysterious at the same time, and shows the infinite possibilities of figurativeness.

Solo exhibitions: Endless Journey, Gallery ART, Montreal, 2004; Erotic Fairy Tales, Malbork Gallery, Montreal, 2007; From Architecture to Painting, BWA, Krosno, 2007; Beyond, Malbork Gallery, 2008.

Work in catalogue
Mira Reiss-Arnaud, 'La dance de la vie' (The Dance of Life), 2013, oil on canvas, 92 x 150 cm. Mira Reiss's painting is populated by figures on the borderline between java, daydreams and the circus. Frozen in poses and gestures: a dancing couple, an acrobat, children, a man with an umbrella, a princess, they are the protagonists of some grotesque narrative of mystery and colour. The artist's fantasy seems to have no limits, she combines strange human types, deforms silhouettes, plays with symbols, reaches into the world of our associations and allows any interpretation of the artist's vision.
