An intimate museum collecting works by the sculptor and painter Bolesław Biegas (1877-1954) is located in the Polish Library in Paris. Biegas (born Bolesław Biegalski) is one of the most original representatives of modernism in Polish art, an important, though for a long time forgotten, author of works that are part of the symbolist trend, with rich allegorisation, comprising the author's fantasy-mythological vision. Recognised as a self-made talent, thanks to his patrons he received an academic artistic education, studying at Krakow's Academy of Fine Arts under Alfred Daun and Konstanty Laszczka. The Museum's collection includes numerous works which the artist bequeathed to the Historical and Literary Society in 1950. The first exhibition of Biegas' art was organised in 1974. At present, the Museum presents the work of Bolesław Biegas in the context of the output of other Polish artists of his period.
