Tombstone of Adam Ferdinand Adamowicz

Tombstone originally in the form of a cross on a three-tier pedestal and two-tier base. The cross is not preserved, framed by acanthus leaves at the base, on a pedestal decorated with palm leaves in relief on the front, enclosed by overlapping volutes. The first step of the plinth with profiled upper edges. Inlaid inscription to the front (1). The second step of the pedestal with moulded upper edges decorated with lictor rods, on the front a relief carved mace of Hercules entwined by two snakes with an olive lamp. The third tier of the plinth tapering upwards with a simplified beam consisting of a frieze, Ionic kimation and cornice, covered by a hipped roof. Suspended from the frieze are garlands of oak leaves, below is a moulded band, front and rear with semi-circular moulding. On the front a profiled oval niche, where originally a bust of the deceased. Below, a plaque framed by a frame of stylised ferrule and scroll ornament. In it an inlaid inscription (2).

Additional information:

The name of the author of the inscription appears in square brackets. The gravestone was transferred from the Evangelical cemetery, recorded in the file of Wojciech Wojtka. Originally, a bronze portrait by A. Pruszyński was placed in the niche (E. Małachowicz, "Vilnius. Dzieje, architektura, cmentarze", Wrocław 1996, p. 444).
