Jack Vanarsky, born in 1936 in General Roca, Argentina, came from a Jewish family with Lithuanian and Belorussian roots. He attended painting workshops and studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. In 1962, he moved to Paris. He co-founded the Automat Group, which exhibited at the Paris Biennale in 1967 and at the Espace latino-américain in Paris in 1980, together with Arthur Luiz Pisa. His works, such as 'Livremonde', made in 1992 for the Seville Universal Exhibition, were exhibited at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie in Parc de La Villette and at Polytech in 1994 (as part of the Ecole Polytechnique touring exhibition). He won first prize at the Maison de l'Amérique latine - Fortabat Foundation Painting and Sculpture Prize in 1994 and was a member of the Ouvroir de Peinture Potentielle in 1980.
