In the Prazeres Cemetery in Lisbon, there is the grave of Jan Szembek, a Polish diplomat who evacuated to Budapest on 17 September 1939, and then via Venice to Paris, where he remained until June 1940. After the German occupation of France, he moved to Portugal and settled with his wife in Estoril, near Lisbon, where he died on 9 July 1945. His remains lie in the tomb of the Salesian Fathers, tomb no. 2272 in alley no. 23.
