Tombstone of Johan Stachorsky

Zaleszczyki | Ukraine
Burial place marked by obelisk on plinth. Obelisk flanked by a groove, on a moulded base. The plinth is covered by a wider, moulded panel with acroterions, between which are triangular peaks with bas-relief decoration: on the front crossed torches, on the left the Eye of Providence, on the right a corpse skull, on the back a cross. On the front a panel with a ritual inscription (1). On the back an engraved inscription (2).

(1) Hier Ruhet / Johan Sta= / chórski / erblüchte das / Licht am 4tn Juni / [17]97 ende im fes= / [em]wertr aūn aūf / Gott [...] / gendaha[...]a / am [...] //.
(2) Im stillen Sattenland / Wo aller Schmerz / Wo aller Kumer schweigt / Wo keine [Kette] mer / die Seele küt[...] //.
