Tombstone of the Kahn family

On a double two-sided pedestal a stepped flat, thick, sloping panel, at the head on a base a stele in the shape of two joined tablets of Moses. Inscriptions: on the stele left column (1), on the stele right column (2).

The inscriptions begin and end in Hebrew, 2 and 5 characters.

The gravestone bore the likeness of Léontine Antokolsky (noted in 1997). In June 2008 it was found to be missing, presumably the tombstone had been rebuilt.

Joseph Kahn (born 21 June 1867 in Vilnius, died 1928), jeweller, resided in Paris. He was granted French citizenship on 22 April 1904 by Decree No. 69,909. According to the Burial Books, he was 61 years old and living in the 20th arrondissement of Paris at the time of his death. He was buried on 27 July 1928 under the annual number 408. His remains were later moved from Montmorency to the 20th arrondissement of Paris.

Rachel Kahn, born 23 May 1893 in Paris, in her parents' flat at 15 rue de Montmorency, died 15 February 1949 in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, daughter of Joseph Kahn (jeweller, aged 29) and Léontine Antokolsky (aged 25). She was married to Georges Fourman (born 1887 in Odesa), a merchant, whom she married on 3 December 1923 in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. (AdP AN Paris 3e no. 731 of 1893, geneanet.org).

Edmond Marc Kahn, born 26 August 1902 in Paris, 18th arrondissement, died 3 August 1982 in Neuilly-sur-Marne (INSEE), son of Joseph Kahn (jeweller, aged 37) and Léontine Antokolsky (jeweller, aged 32). Resident in Paris, boulevard Rochechouart 28. Husband of Rachel Levin, whom he married on 25 October 1962 in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. (AdP AN Paris 18e no. 4182 of 1902).

Léontine Antokolsky, born on 18 May 1869 in Vilnius, naturalised on 22 April 1904 by Decree No. 69,909, residing in Paris. Wife of Joseph Kahn. Death reported on 2 July 1946, annual number 1236, transferred from Cannes. Sources: Burial books.

Kahn Henry, son of Joseph Kahn and Léontine Antokolsky, husband of Simone Henriette Denise Blum (1904-1979), daughter of Marcel Salomon Blum and Andrée Oppenheimer. Jeweller, Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. Died on 2 July 1972 in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine).

André Kahn, born on 29 June 1896 in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, died on 27 February 1981 in Boulogne-Billancourt (INSEE). Son of Joseph Kahn and Léontine Antokolsky. Husband of Simone Worms, whom he married on 24 April 1947 in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
