Sylva Ostrowetsky, born on 25 May 1933 in the 4th district of Paris, died on 12 April 2004 in the 12th district of Paris (INSEE), possibly married to Zygel. She was a university professor and head of doctoral studies at the Department of Philosophy, Humanities and Social Sciences, Université de Picardie in Amiens (BNF). Her parents, Abraham Moïse (b. 1898, d. 1990 in Paris) and Czarna Grinbaum (b. 1901), came from Mogielnica in Poland. According to the 1931 census, they lived in Gentilly (Val-de-Marne) as Polish citizens, and their father was a rag picker (chiffonier) (ADep. Val-de-Marne, Recensement 1931, Gentilly). Ostrowetsky's silhouette was written about, among others, in the article 'Hommage à Sylvia Ostrowetsky' in Les Annales de la Recherche Urbaine, Année 2005: 98, pp. 172-190, and in a review of the book 'Quelqu'un ou le livre de Moïshe' (Paris, Éditions Kimé, 1995) by Louis Moreau de Bellaing, published in 'L'Homme et la société' Année 1995: 117-118, pp. 182-183.
