Variants of the name:

Olga Boznańska, Portret malarza Dąbrowskiego; Olga Boznańska, Portret mężczyzny w różowej koszuli (Portret malarza Dąbrowskiego),

The portrait was painted during Olga Boznanska's stay in Munich and in her studio on Georgenstrasse. On the wall behind the model can be seen the 'Still Life with Grapes and a Cup' from 1898, which is now in a private collection. The portrait shows the painter, graphic artist, architect and decorator Eugeniusz Ludwik Dąbrowski (1870, Przywitowo - 1941, Poznań). After studying in Paris, Berlin and Munich, where he probably met and posed for Boznanska, the artist settled in Krakow in 1900. Here, in the years 1905-06, together with Jozef Czajkowski, he created the decoration of the artistic salon of the Old Theatre in Krakow; he also designed the interiors of Jan Noworolski's café on the ground floor of the Cloth Hall in Krakow. He was also the author of designs for kilims, posters and publications. From 1901, he was a member of the Society of Polish Applied Arts.

After the First World War, he lived in France, where he had a solo exhibition in 1922 and also exhibited at the Salon des Independents. In 1939 he settled in Poznań.
In 1897 Boznańska made a portrait of Eugeniusz Dąbrowski in charcoal ( now in the National Museum in Warsaw .
