Potocki Palace in Lviv

The Neo-Renaissance palace in Lviv was built in 1888-1890 for Alfred Józef Potocki, according to a project by Julian Cybulski. Construction was completed in 1890, at which time the wife of the prematurely deceased Potocki, Maria Klementyna, took up residence here. In 1919, as a result of an unfortunate aeroplane accident, the palace was destroyed. Its reconstruction was completed in 1931. During World War II, the palace was requisitioned by the Nazis, who held propaganda, anti-Semitic exhibitions there. The building then passed into the hands of the Soviets. It now houses the Lviv Art Gallery.
