Biography:

Piotr Stachiewicz (1858-1938), born in Nowosiółki Gościnne, painter and illustrator. Between 1877 and 1883 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Kraków under Jan Matejko, Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Florian Cynk, then in Munich. From 1885, he lived in Kraków. He painted religious, historical and genre scenes, and was known for his series 'Queen of Heaven. Legends of the Virgin Mary' and portraits of women in Krakow costumes. The author of illustrations to, among others, "Quo vadis" by Sienkiewicz and works by Mickiewicz. He lectured at the Baraniecki Higher Courses for Women.
