The present church was built in 1634 from the foundation of the owner of Podhajce, Zofia Tyszkiewiczowa of Zamiechów. In 1643, a polygonal burial chapel was added to the presbytery, where another owner of the village, Stanisław Rewera Potocki, was buried. After 1945, the church, taken away from the faithful, gradually fell into disrepair. As a result of a fire in the 1980s, the vaulting of the nave and the tower were destroyed. The Holy Trinity Church was returned to the community in 2006. In 2006, Holy Trinity Church was returned to the Roman Catholic community, which has since made efforts to rebuild it.

To support the restoration effort, intervention works were planned to protect the preserved original vaults by building a temporary canopy. This activity was partly carried out thanks to a grant awarded under the Programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage 'Protection of Cultural Heritage Abroad'. The funds obtained made it possible to secure the last surviving bay of the nave and one bay of the chancel.

In order to be able to cover all the vaults still preserved with a roof, the POLONIKA Institute joined the effort. Funding was provided for the construction of a roof over the remaining two bays of the chancel, the side chapels and the tower. The roof on the tower was designed as a mono-pitched roof, with provision for water drainage through a special gutter leading through a small window opening. The other roofs were made as multi-pitched, with a vertical blind wall on the side of the nave.

The roofing is temporary. Its purpose is to protect the building until the target reinforcement of the vaults and walls has been carried out.
