Individual graves of Polish Army soldiers killed in September 1939.

In September 1939, during a clash between the Polish Army and the advancing German army, wounded Polish soldiers took shelter in houses near the battle site. The Germans destroyed these buildings. It is likely that the lightly wounded soldiers managed to escape, while the others perished in the flames.
Most of the soldiers were buried in a common grave in Malechowo by the roadside; in 1993 Polish archaeologists exhumed this grave and moved the soldiers' remains to the Malechowo cemetery. Two participants of these battles were buried in individual graves in the Malechów cemetery. They were rtm. Aleksander Stańko and Lt. Andrzej Bniński.
Crosses with name plates were placed on the graves of these soldiers. The name plate of Lt. Bniński bore the inscription: "Ś.P. / Andrzej hr. Bniński / ppor. 4 Pułku ułanów / born 27 IX 1909 in Wacławówka / fallen on 17 IX 1939 near Zboiska / Eternal rest deign to give him Lord".
In the post-war period, the grave crosses were toppled and the plaques removed. Today, the graves are overgrown with grass and difficult to find.
