From the 15th to the 17th century, the Castle of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania was the political, diplomatic, administrative and cultural centre of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The castle contains numerous Polish artefacts, including a medal with the coat of arms of the January Uprising, glass vessels with the coat of arms of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, a reconstruction of the crown of the Polish king Alexander Jagiellon, a tile with the coat of arms of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the coat of arms of the Vasa dynasty, buttons, pins and Polish decorations, and plaques with the coat of arms of Stefan Batory and the initials of Stanisław August.
