Polish War Cemetery in Grainville-Langannerie

Polish War Cemetery in Grainville-Langannerie. It is the only Polish war cemetery in France. It is home to 696 Polish soldiers, the vast majority of whom served in the 1st Armoured Division. Most of the soldiers fell in the Normandy campaign during Operation Totalize and the Battle of Falaise in 1944. The cemetery was opened two years later. The necropolis consists of tombstones (86 of which are empty), a bust of General Stanisław Maczek, the division's commander, and a commemorative sculpture.
