The illusionist frescoes of Stroiński's workshop in Husakov represent a beautiful example of illusionist wall painting in the eastern lands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Their poor condition required urgent rescue and conservation work to save them from total destruction and restore their appropriate artistic qualities.

2022 (Phase III)
The activities consisted in continuing the rescue and conservation works in the interior of the Church of Sts. The activities consisted of continuing rescue and conservation work in the interior of the Church of Sts Stanislav and Christopher in Hussakiv, Ukraine.

The work included frescoes by the workshop of Stanisław Stroiński depicting the Coronation of the Mother of God, located on the vault of the church's nave.

In 2020, thanks to the support of the Polonica Institute, a Comprehensive Conservation Programme was developed for the interior of the church, as well as an expert opinion on the state of preservation and the causes of damage to individual elements of the church's decoration. As the frescoes on the vaulting in the nave were in most urgent need of rescue work - work on the decoration in the church started from this scope. 2020 and 2021. started the process of saving the paintings by carrying out protective works on the vault thanks to the financing of the Polonica Institute and partially technical conservation of the frescoes from the funds of MKIDN.

2023 (stage IV)
The task consisted of completing rescue and conservation work on the vaulting of the nave, inside the Church of Sts Stanislav and Christopher in Hussakiv, Ukraine. Work was carried out on the frescoes by Stanisław Stroiński, located on the vault of the church's nave. In 2020, thanks to the support of the Polonika Institute, a Comprehensive Conservation Programme for the interior of the church was developed, as well as an expert opinion on the state of preservation and causes of damage to individual elements of the church's decoration. As the frescoes on the vault in the nave required the most urgent intervention, work on the church decoration started from this scope. In 2020-2022, thanks to funding from the Minister of KIDN, the process of saving the paintings was launched by carrying out protective work on the vault, full technical conservation of the frescoes and restoration of the central scene enclosed by an illusionistically painted frame.

Thanks to the conservation work carried out, it was possible to stop the far-reaching destruction of the paintings, and by continuing and completing the conservation, it will be possible to gradually restore their technical properties and aesthetic qualities, so important for illusionist painting. The final result is a fully conserved technical and aesthetic fresco on the vault of the nave, reflecting the splendour of illusionist painting at the end of the Baroque era in the Polish lands. In parallel with the restoration work on the vault, the concrete band on the outside of the church was removed and monitoring of the dampness of the walls began.

As part of the current phase, the restoration of the frescoes on the vault was completed by retouching and restoration on the tracery, lunettes, lunette shield walls and the west wall, as well as the rest of the rainbow arch. Window restorations were also carried out by completing the glazing, conserving the metal frames and muntins, replacing and completing the glazing compound.
