Information about the object:
Lychakiv cemetery is the oldest necropolis in Lviv. Founded in the eastern part of the city in 1786, it is one of the largest cemeteries in Europe. It is distinguished by its high-class gravestones. Since 2018, the Polonika Institute has been involved in the conservation work of some of the tombstones.

Completed work:

2020 (stage XIII)
As part of the project, conservation work was carried out on tombstones selected by an international commission (Polish-Ukrainian) and restored to their original values.

The works included the following tombstones:

- NN with an angel and a PAX inscription by Kurczyński,

- Joanna of Roszkowski Bogghowund (sarcophagus),

- Konstanty Stanek,

- Ivan Bartoszewski,

- Teresa Kulczycka (stage I).

2021 (stage XIV)
Another, Polish-Ukrainian, edition, implemented by the Cultural Heritage Foundation. In 2021, an interdisciplinary, international commission operating within the project decided that the following objects will be included in the works:

- Bishop Adam Jasinski,

- Stanislaw Zarwansky,

- the cast-iron bench at the gravestone of Agatha Stranskiey (to be conserved in 2019),

- the Piórka couple,

- Stage II of the works at the gravestone of Teresa Kulczycka and Jozef Nogaj,

- tombstone of Jakub Pieczonka, and

- repair work after storm damage at the tombstones of the Ziętkiewicz family and Józef Woynar.

2022 (stage XV)
In 2022, Polish-Ukrainian conservation works were once again carried out in the Lychakiv Cemetery.

The works included tombstones of:

- Amelia of Szyc Gołębiewska
- Artur Schellenberg
- Władysław Bełza
- Antoni Czuczawa
- Rozalia Waranowiczówna
- Zdzisław Simodowicz
- Oleander de Liwinski
- and the fence of the tomb of Jan Wilhelm Wyhera.

The tombstones were selected by arrangement between the Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Historic Environment Protection Board of the Lviv City Council.

2023 (stage XVI)
The sixteenth stage of Polish-Ukrainian restoration work in Lychakiv Cemetery was conducted on the gravestone of Eustachy Mychynskyi and the tomb of Antoni Chuchava. The task was to carry out professional and comprehensive conservation work on the gravestones in the Lychakiv Cemetery, which are in an emergency condition.

The tombstone of E. Miączyński was in a very poor technical condition before conservation. It was heavily covered with layers of chemical and biological nature. The main problem is the leaning composition. Due to the location of the tombstone, the dismantling required scaffolding and a hand crane.

Work on the tombstone of A. Czuczawa tombstone started with the dismantling of the entire roof of the monument, then proceeded to repair the damaged elements of the roof structure, re-create the damaged or missing elements of the monument ("frogs"); conservation measures (mixed methods), protection of the metal against the formation of foci of recurrent corrosion (mixed methods) strengthening the weakened metal parts (where necessary); covering the surface with protective coatings (anti-corrosion protection) and in the final stage the installation of the entire roof was carried out.
