The Lithuanian-language version of the publication is the first such comprehensive study devoted to the Vilnius necropolis.

The publication is the result of a documentation project carried out in 2013-2016 by the Institute of Art History of the UKSW in Warsaw in cooperation with the Lithuanian University of Education (now the Academy of Education of Vytautas Magnus University). The joint work of researchers from Poland and Lithuania has made it possible to prepare the first comprehensive monograph of the Ross Cemetery, a testimony to the cultural heritage of both countries. The multi-faceted factual study has been supplemented with little-known iconographic material and contemporary photographs by Norbert Piwowarczyk.
