Ryszard (Spanish: Ricardo) de Jaxa Malachowski (1887-1972), Polish architect, active mainly in Peru, one of the most important architects of the Peruvian capital, Lima, where he rebuilt or designed, among other things, the Archbishop's Palace (1924), the Palace of the City Council (1944), the Cathedral and the Palace of the President (1938), the Old Town or the Santa María del Mar estate. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1911 he went to Lima, where he became head of the architecture department at the School of Engineering and Mining (Escuela Especial de Ingenieros de Construcciones Civiles y de Minas del Perú, now the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería) and held this position for thirty-three years.
