Biography:

Ryszard Winiarski (1936-2006) - Polish painter, precursor of conceptualism, creator of spatial forms and scenography, educator. Graduate of the Faculty of Precision Mechanics at the Warsaw University of Technology and the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He made a name for himself with his black-and-white works based on squares as the building blocks of compositions. The elements of the composition were determined by the toss of a dice or coin. In the 1960s, he experimented with programmes in his art, resulting in multi-colour paintings, reliefs or kinetic forms. In the 1970s, he shifted the focus of his interest from independent creation to the parceling out of viewers in the creation of a work of art. In the 1980s, he turned to emotions and experiences. His works can be found in the collections of, among others, the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum Ludwigshafen, McCeory in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in New Delhi.
