A major and prestigious turn-of-the-century investment, co-funded by the French state, the regional council and the city, it is one of the largest realisations by Stanislaw Fiszer, who specialises in public buildings in France. The project was selected in a competition. The complex was built as part of the revitalisation of a dilapidated district, on the site of the former railway station known as the gare de Villenouvelle, and using elements of it: the entrance building with ticket offices (dating from the late 19th century), fragments of walls, relief decorative details, and parts of the ramp and tracks alongside the buildings have been preserved almost unchanged. The large area surrounding the buildings has also been transformed, creating an extensive parking area and public park, and a patio with a colourful sculpture-logo of the institution in front of the entrances to the main building.

The main hall can accommodate up to 3,300 spectators. It hosts concerts, dance and theatre performances and the annual "Alors chante!" song festival in May. The 350-square-metre foyer is suitable for a variety of events and can be converted into a congress hall. The interiors are dominated by concrete in grey, blue and red. The ceiling of the concert hall is lined with wood. The stage can also be opened up to the outside, making large outdoor events possible. Fiszer has used here, as in many of his other French projects, contrasts of large smooth expanses of raw concrete and glass panes (giving a brutalist effect), red clinker tiles (enlivening the upper part of the street-side façade), 'industrial' metal accents (gutters, doors, fans, etc.).

The opening of the building on 20 June 2000, after only one year of construction, was a significant event in the region. The local press took note, highlighting the austere elegance of the architecture and the skilful fusion of 'old and new', as well as the momentum of the investment. Since then, Eurythmie has been an important cultural and entertainment venue in the department.
