307 Squadron aircraft at RAF Museum Midlands, Cosford

RAF Museum Midlands in Cosford houses the Boulton Paul Defiant Mk 1 aircraft from the Second World War. The Defiant Mk I aircraft first took part in combat action on 12 May 1940 and served with the Polish 307 Squadron RAF from September that year. It is interesting to note that this machine did not arouse enthusiasm among pilots, as its only armament was in a rotating turret at the rear of the aircraft, operated by a deck gunner.
