In 1936, he co-organised the exhibition of the Block of Professional Artists in Rapperswil, which initiated the Museum of Contemporary Poland. In 1938, he joined the authorities of the Bloc and received the bronze medal of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts for his painting "Judas". From 1939 he lived on the Côte d'Azur; during the war he was cultural attaché in Bern and was active in intelligence, collaborating with the French Resistance. From 1955 he settled in Seillans, where a large collection of his late portraits and landscapes was produced at the Maison Waldberg.
