Biography:

Stanisław August Poniatowski (1732-1798), born in Wołczyn, son of Stanisław Poniatowski and Konstancja née Czartoryska, was king of Poland and the last ruler of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was elected king during the electoral assembly in 1764. After the Third Partition of Poland, he abdicated on 25 November 1795. He spent the last years of his life in exile in St Petersburg.
