Biography:

Stanislav Chlebowski (1835-1884), born in Pokutyńce, painter. He was educated in Odesa, then studied painting in St Petersburg and Paris. In the mid 1860s he went to Istanbul, where he worked for several years as court painter to Sultan Abdülaziz, creating mainly historical and battle scenes. On his return to Europe, he settled in France and later in Krakow.
