Stanislawski branch of the "Florianka" mutual insurance company in Kraków

The building of the Stanislawow section of the "Florianka" mutual insurance company in Krakow was built in 1904. Among public buildings, it is the first building with Art Nouveau features in the Stanislav region. The architect of the building is Jan Tomasz Kudelski, an architect who was the most recognisable and prolific designer in the city at the turn of the 20th century.

The corner block of the five-storey building on what was then Szydłowski Street was shaped by a characteristic combination of smooth horizontal rustication and rough rustication. The symmetrical façade with a high Art Nouveau gateway to the main entrance is accentuated by vertical pairs of pilasters. A feature of the Art Nouveau style, as is well known, is the curved line. It can be seen not only in the arch of the entrance and in the window openings, but also in the curvature of the outline of the front line of the façade. The most stylistically advanced element, referring to the favourite Art Nouveau motif of the letter omega shape, is the attic of the building, composed of expressive mascarons, reminiscent of the attics of the Cloth Hall of

Krakow's cloth halls. Inside the building, over the oval space of the vestibule, a glazed ceiling plafond was placed, repeating the ellipse shape of the entire room of the Stanislavski "Florianka".

Since the first years after the Second World War, the building has housed the Physiology Department of the Higher Medical School (formerly the Institute, now the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University Mykhaila Hrushevskoho Street 7, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine, 76000).

Location: 7 Mykhaila Hrushevskoho Street, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine.
