Memorial plaque at the burial site of the dead at the special hospital

Prisoners of war who died in the NKVD special hospital in Kemi were buried in the local cemetery during and immediately after the Second World War.

These victims are commemorated by a tall metal cross, which bears a plaque in the shape of a prison door. It is engraved with the names of 75 deceased prisoners and the inscription: "They died in 1946 at the Special Hospital No. 1755 in Kemi. Buried here".

On the basis of surviving documents, it has been established that 2 Poles are buried here, but due to the very poor technical condition of the plaque, it is not possible to verify whether the names of the Poles are on the commemoration.
