At the House of Peruvian Literature in Lima, there is a plaque commemorating Ernest Malinowski, railway engineer, designer and builder of the Central Transandia Railway, considered one of the greatest achievements of world engineering. This impressive railway ascends from the port city of Callao in Peru to the Ticlio Pass, located at 4818 m above sea level, to cross the Andes and reach the city of Huancayo, at 3260 m above sea level.
