Plaque commemorating Poles on the walls of Fort Jesus in Mombasa

On the walls of Fort Jesus in Mombasa, one of the most important historical buildings in Kenya, there is a plaque commemorating the fate of thousands of Poles who found refuge in Africa after the dramatic experience of exile in Siberia. The plaque was placed to commemorate the approximately 20,000 Polish refugees who were in East and Southern Africa between 1942 and 1952.
