Plaque in memory of Robert Adalbert Portius in Tokaj

In Tokaj, Hungary, there is a plaque with an inscription in Polish commemorating Robert Wojciech Portius. He was a Scotsman who, after marrying Anna, née Hesner, moved to Krosno. He was involved in selling wine from Hungary to Poland, on which he made a fortune. In 1657 he became commandant of Krosno. He invested some of his own private money in extending the city walls. Portius cared for Krosno, for which he received a title of nobility from the king.
