Biography:

Tadeusz Makowski (1882-1932), born in Oświęcim, Polish painter from the École de Paris. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Unierzyski, Stanisławski and Mehoffer. Before that, he studied classical and Polish philology at the Jagiellonian University. From the end of 1908, he lived in Paris. During the First War he stayed in Brittany with Władysław Ślewiński. At first he was inspired by Puvis de Chavannes and the Cubists. Later he moved away from Cubism towards naive realism. He painted children, country scenes and masquerades. He also created graphics and illustrations.
