Biography:

Tadeusz Izrael Sachs (1899-1942), born in Pinsk, hockey player, Olympian, coach and referee. In his youth he played for Swiss clubs Rossey Gstaad and Akademischer HC Zurich. In Poland he played as a goalkeeper for Union Łódź, WTŁ Warszawa, Legia Warszawa and AZS Warszawa, winning national championship medals. He represented Poland and later, as union captain, led the team at the 1932 Olympics and the World Championships. He refereed international tournaments. Deported to Auschwitz in 1942, where he died.
