Biography:

Tadeusz Synowiec (1889-1960), born in Świątniki Górne, football player, coach and sports journalist.

He graduated in philology from the Jagiellonian University. He began his footballing adventure in RKS Rudawa, but for most of his career was linked with Cracovia, where he played 318 matches. He went down in the history of Polish football as the first captain of the national team - he performed that function in Poland's debut match against Hungary in 1921. At the same time, he wore the captain's armband in club colours.

After his playing career ended, he took up coaching and journalism. For several years he worked as editor of Przegląd Sportowy until the editorial office was moved to Warsaw in 1925. In the same year, he took over the position of national team manager, which he held until 1927, when he was replaced by Tadeusz Kuchar.
