Tekla Justyna Chopin (1782-1861), born in Długie, daughter of Jakub Krzyżanowski and Antonina, née Kołomińska. As a young girl, she lived in the manor house of Countess Ludwika Skarbek in Żelazowa Wola, where she was a housekeeper. In 1802, she met Mikołaj Chopin, tutor to the countess's children, with whom she shared a passion for music. In 1806 they married, and in 1807 their daughter Ludwika was born. In 1810, their son, Fryderyk Chopin, was born. The family lived in Warsaw and Żelazowa Wola. In 1826 Justyna left with her children for Duszniki-Zdrój, and in 1835 she met her son Fryderyk in Karlsbad, the first and only time after his departure from Poland. After her husband's death, in 1844, she lived with her daughter Isabella in Warsaw. She died on 1 October 1861 and was buried at Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw.
