Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski. Publication

Who was Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski? It is easy to imagine that he would say briefly about himself: a sculptor. One might add thoroughly educated, talented and hard-working, and sincerely dedicated to art.

Despite the seemingly only easy description of his character and life attitude, Tomasz O. Sosnowski remains a mysterious figure, escaping chronology and simple classifications. There are more question marks than certainties in his life and work. And this is precisely the reason why the figure of the artist can continuously both intrigue and inspire.

He left behind as many as one hundred works of art, diverse in form, including monuments, busts, statues and bas-reliefs. The Polonica Institute, together with Professor Lechosław Lemeński, an expert on the work of Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski, has begun work on a monographic publication to be published in 2024. The author's intention is to reconstruct as fully as possible the biography, including the artistic biography of the sculptor, to restore the memory of the sculptor, and to include his works in the cultural discourse.

The publication 'They did not know him at all. Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski - Polish Sculptor in Nineteenth-Century Rome' will be published as part of the 'Studies and Materials' publishing series.
