In search of the perfect hairdresser

On Thursday evenings, we take everyone on a journey into the world of art, history and, above all, Polish cultural heritage abroad.

This time, we tried to discover the secrets of the hairdressing empire of Antoine Cierplikowski, the Pole known as the "king of hairdressers and barber of kings", who combed the most famous artists of his time - Brigitte Bardot, Édith Piaf, Sarah Bernhardt and Josephine Baker - and also supervised the haircut during the coronation of King George VI of England in 1937.

The history of Antoine de Paris and the secrets of the art of hairdressing were introduced by Adam Krupiński, a hairdresser to the stars of the young generation, who works on film and television sets every day, and co-author of an exhibition devoted to Antoine Cierplikowski - "Antoine. Dedicated to Beauty' - which was held at the National Opera House in Warsaw in 2019.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Magdalena Gutowska.
