Biography:

Wiktor Ignacy Godlewski (1831–1900), born in Boguty Wielkie, son of Aleksander Godlewski and Karolina (née Ciołkowska), naturalist, ornithologist and explorer of Siberia, participant in the January Uprising. After being exiled to Siberia, he conducted pioneering research into Lake Baikal and the fauna of Eastern Siberia alongside Benedykt Dybowski.

He took part in the first depth measurements of Lake Baikal, assembled valuable ornithological collections and co-authored scientific studies on the natural history of the region. Upon his return to Poland, he settled in Smolechy, where he ran a farm.
