Biography:

Włodzimierz Książek (1951-2011), born in Warsaw, painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he obtained his MFA in 1975. In 1982, he emigrated to the United States.

Książek has been awarded numerous scholarships and artist residencies, including Yaddo, Millay Colony for the Arts and Montalvo Arts Center. His work has been exhibited in galleries around the world, including New York, Boston and in Europe and Asia. He painted mainly in oils and wax on large canvases, creating multi-layered compositions. Although described as abstract, the artist himself called his works 'constructivist'.

Vladimir Ksiazek died in unexplained circumstances at his studio in Pawtucket.
