Zbigniew Kazimierz Boniek (1956-), born in Bydgoszcz, son of Józef and Jadwiga, footballer, coach and sports activist, one of the most outstanding players in the history of Polish football. Alumni of Zawisza Bydgoszcz, two-time Polish champion with Widzew Łódź, then a player for Juventus and AS Roma, with whom he won, among others, the European Cup, Cup Winners' Cup and Italian championship. Polish national football team member in 1976-1988, participant in three World Cups (1978, 1982, 1986), bronze medallist of the 1982 World Cup. Third in the 1982 Golden Ball poll, member of the Outstanding Representative Club. After ending his career, coach of Italian clubs and selector of the Polish national team (2002). President of the Polish Football Association from 2012 to 2021, vice-president of UEFA from 2021 to 2025.
