Biography:

Zbigniew Makarewicz, born in 1940 in Vilnius, sculptor, performer, art critic, journalist and professor. He studied at the Department of Ceramics at the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Wrocław, in the ateliers of Xawery Dunikowski and Apollo Czepelewski (1958-1965). In 1995, he obtained his doctorate in art at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1999, he obtained his habilitation at the same faculty, and in 2000 he became an associate professor at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. In 2009, he was appointed full professor.
