Biography:

Zofia Butrymowicz (1904-1987), born in Warsaw, was a weaver and representative of the Polish School of Artistic Textiles. She graduated from the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting in Warsaw in 1927 and received her diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. Her works were distinguished by intense colours and a skilful combination of traditional weaving techniques with innovative experiments, characteristic of the second half of the 20th century. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. Her works can be found in the collections of the National Museum in Poznań and Warsaw, the Museum of Textile History in Łódź and in private collections in Europe and the United States.
