Biography:

Zofia Nalepinska-Bojczuk (1884-1937), Ukrainian artist of Polish origin. Painter, wood engraver, illustrator and graphic artist. She studied under Jan Ciągliński and Simon Hollósy. She studied at the Académie Ranson with the Nabists in Paris. She belonged to the Boychukist group led by Mikhail Boychuk, whom she soon married. The group aimed to revive monumental religious painting and Byzantine art. At the turn of 1926/1927, she and her students went on a tour of Germany, France and Italy, during which they were recognised as members of a counter-revolutionary organisation. On 13 July 1937, the NKVD executed her husband with her pupils. On 11 December 1937, the artist was arrested and executed.
