Zygmunt Haupt (1907-1975), born in Ułaszkowce, son of Ludwik and Albina, née Mazurek, writer, painter and architect.

He studied architecture in Lviv and urban planning in Paris, where he also began to paint and write.

He took part in the September campaign of 1939 as an artillery officer. After being interned in Hungary, he made his way through France to Great Britain, where he continued his military service. After the war, he settled in the United States. He worked for the Voice of America, among others, and published in the English and Polish language press. He died in Winchester, Virginia. He was mainly recognised for his short stories and reportage.
