Building of the former Polish Radio Station in Vilnius

In the years 1927-1935, the Vilnius Vilnius Broadcasting Station of the Polish Radio was located in this building in the villa at 21 Witoldowa Street (now 2 Liubarto Street). The Vilnius Broadcasting Station was established as the fifth in Poland its ceremonial opening took place on 8 December 1927. The signal of the station was the voice of the cuckoo, and it broadcasted daily news, agricultural announcements, educational advice, programmes for craftsmen and hobbyists, as well as reportages and satirical programmes. It broadcast Hulewicz's first major historical radio play, "Kiejstut's Funeral", to the whole of Poland. Czesław Miłosz worked for some time at this radio station. The radio broadcast on 536 kHz (in Vilnius). Today, the building remains undeveloped and deteriorates.
