Biography:

Stefan Themerson was born on 25 January 1910 in Plock and died on 6 September 1988 in London. He was a Polish artist, filmmaker and poet. One of the most important concepts proposed by Themerson was semantic poetry (which was particularly popular among members of the French experimental literary group 'OuLiPo'). In 1929 he met the artist Françoise Wienles, with whom they married in 1931. The couple co-created a successful artistic duo. They made five avant-garde films together, which went down in cinematic history as groundbreaking works.
