Gunnersbury Cemetery in London became the final resting place for around 1,600 Poles, it was opened in 1929 and is a place strongly associated with London's Polish community especially those emanating from the Second World War. Many military commanders, many distinguished emigration activists, veterans of the uprisings, cultural people as well as emigrants for bread are buried here.

Among those buried at Gunnersbury Cemetery are: Tadeusz Bór Komorowski-Divisional General of the Polish Army, commander of the Home Army, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; Kazimierz Sabbat-Prime Minister and President of the Polish Republic in Exile. There is a grave of Józef Haller, General of the Polish Army, who died in London in 1960 and was buried in Gunnersbury Cemetery before his ashes were transported to Poland, to Krakow. In Gunnersbury Cemetery since 1976 there is the first Katyn Memorial in the UK

Dokumentacja cmentarzy w Wielkiej Brytanii

W roku 2022 wykonane zostały prace inwentaryzacyjne na cmentarzach brytyjskich w ramach realizacji projektu "Opracowanie stanu zachowania grobów rządowych w Wielkiej Brytanii" finansowanego ze środków Kancelarii Prezesa Rady Ministrów w ramach konkursu Polonia i Polacy za Granicą 2022. Wyniki prac inwentaryzacyjnych stanowiły podstawę dla opracowania w formie maszynopisu przygotowanego przez Fundację Pomoc Polakom na Wschodzie i udostępnionego na otwartej licencji CC BY-SA 4.0. Opracowanie to wraz z kwerendą na cmentarzach Londynu przeprowadzoną w lipcu 2023 stanowi podstawę opracowania opublikowanych kart.
