"The Rossa Cemetery in Vilnius - history, art, nature" - publication of the Polonika Institute

The monograph 'The Ross Cemetery in Vilnius - history, art, nature' is the first such comprehensive study devoted to a Polish necropolis.

The book is the result of documentation work carried out in 2013-2016 by the Institute of Art History of UKSW in Warsaw in cooperation with the Lithuanian University of Education (now the Academy of Education of Vytautas Magnus University). The combined efforts of Polish and Lithuanian researchers have resulted in a publication presenting a comprehensive picture of the Na Rossa necropolis as a testimony to the cultural heritage of Poland and Lithuania.

The monograph covers both the history of the place, an assessment of the artistic value of tombstones, tombs and chapels, as well as the spatial composition of the cemetery with an analysis of the flora. The extremely reliable texts are illustrated with photographs presenting the contemporary image of the cemetery and hitherto unknown archives. The publication is available in two language versions - Polish and Lithuanian.
