Bystrzyca cemetery

The active, rural Catholic cemetery is located on a local dirt road, approx. 100 m. from buildings. It was established in the second half of the 19th century. The rectangular layout of the cemetery covers an area of 1.5 ha and is fenced from the north with a stone rampart and from the other sides with brick pillars connected with metal pipes. The layout of the cemetery is divided by paths, dividing the establishment into 5 parts of different sizes. The majority of tombstones in the cemetery date from the 1st half of the 20th century. The oldest preserved tombstone is located in the north-eastern part of the establishment. It is the tombstone of Andrzej Kieżun from 1880, in the form of a granite rectangular slab. At the intersection of the paths is the symbolic tomb of the Unknown Soldier, from the 1930s. It was made of concrete, in a type of cross on rocks. The inscription is damaged and only the words 'honour to the fallen' have survived. Of the bas-relief depicted next to it, only the torso of a bird has survived.
Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography).
