Chocim cemetery

The cemetery in Chocim, which contains tombstones with Polish inscriptions, bears the colloquial name 'Frunzeński' and is located in the western part of the town. The cemetery is active, well-maintained and its total area is about 6 ha. It is a municipal cemetery with a vast majority of Orthodox tombstones, but Zbigniew Hauser found 18 tombstones with Polish inscriptions, which are a trace of the presence of Polish nobility in the area. The monuments were located on both sides of the avenue known as 'Polish Chestnut Avenue'. The oldest of them dates from 1871. Of the Polish tombstones mentioned by Hauser, all date to the 19th century.

The most impressive is the neo-Gothic soaring four-stepped monument topped by a granular high cross, decorated with pinnacles and pointed arcades on the grave of Julia Łącka (d. 1886). Most of the tombstones have been stripped of the cross, with plinths with inscriptions remaining in particular. According to Hauser, gravestones with decorations of a neo-Gothic character predominate. The author also mentions two characteristic "toothed" crosses and an imposing monument with a column on a two-stepped plinth.
