Cemetery in Yushkevichy

Cemetery with Polish gravestone monuments. Information about the cemetery has been published (see bibliography). According to Lewkowski and Walczak, "the active Catholic-Orthodox cemetery is located on the western edge of the village by a dirt road, 50 m south of the church. (...) It is fenced with a metal fence with an entrance from the north, and occupies an area of 0.75 ha. The cemetery was established in the second half of the 19th century. It is rectangular in shape with no division into plots and alleys. The cemetery is dominated by contemporary burials and its oldest part is located on the north-eastern side, on the cul-de-sac." The oldest gravestones were erected in 1885.One is unidentified, the other crowns the burial place of Michael Donkey and is in the form of an iron cross. The inscription reads: 'THE DEATH OF MICHAEL OSL / LIVED 55 YEARS / + 24 APRIL 1885 / PRAISE FOR HEALTHY MARY / MEMORY FROM WIFE'. The gravestone of Maria Szemiotowa is worth noting. According to the above-mentioned researchers, it is "a horizontal rectangular cast-iron slab, bordered with a quarter-surface strip, in the lower part of the slab a convex cross surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves. At the head of the slab a cast-iron cross with geometric ornamentation." Inscription: "S. P. / MARYA / SZEMIOTOWA / LIVED 96 YEARS / DIED 5 JULY / 1901 / GOD SAVE HER SOUL /"
